Over the next few weeks our junior students are looking forward to the prize giving for the Reefton Area School Summer of Learning Challenge. During the holiday break students had three opportunities to come into school and change their reading books. This was so they could maintain their reading progress over the Summer.
Over 40 students took the opportunity to exchange their books. The prize giving will be held on Friday March 2.
We have had feedback from the organizers of the Crusaders visit to Reefton on how much they enjoyed their time with the students.
They really appreciated how polite and engaging students from Reefton Area School, Sacred Heart and the Reefton Early Centre were. They valued that they weren’t mobbed for autographs and how pleasant and appreciative the students were. It was great feedback to receive.

On show last week was the excellent leadership of our student leaders at the swimming sports. The event had to be postponed until Thursday because of the weather.
The student leaders were charged with getting as many of their house members into taking part in events. They did a great job.

The Kawatiri Juniors had a slight advantage over Mawhera students. The senior Mawhera students had the edge over Kawatiri. While there was some close racing, no new school swimming records were broken. Next week we will publish the 2012 swimming champs for our school.

On Thursday March 1 we hope to hold our athletics day. This will be a whole school event held on our school grounds.
Have a good week.
