A Family, Friendly Environment

Reefton Area School, with around 210 students( from year 1  to year 13) has a warm, friendly feel to it where students are valued and cared for in a supportive , welcoming family environment. Our students are seen as individuals with their own needs and requirements, their needs being supported within the school both at Primary and Secondary level by staff who have an excellent understanding of our students' individual needs.

Excellent Facilities

The merger of Reefton School and Inangahua College on to one site to form Reefton Area School in 2004 has enabled the area school to build new dedicated teaching blocks and upgrade all existing classrooms. The refurbishment has provided the school with attractive, landscaped grounds, dedicated outdoor courtyards and outstanding teaching facilities. These facilities  include:

  • Dedicated Primary School block and outdoor courtyard

  • Computer and design suites

  • Distance learning suite

  • Library

  • Senior common room

  • Art room and music suite

  • Modern science laboratory

  • Gym, outdoor swimming pool and excellent grounds

  • Staff

Our teaching staff are all fully qualified, registered teachers with an excellent balance between experienced mature teachers and younger teachers who bring new ideas into the teaching mix. The school is also very fortunate in having a large number of hard working, dedicated support staff that strive to maintain and improve the teaching and physical environment of the school
