The school has a uniform which is compulsory and is a requirement for the attendance of students at Reefton Area School.
Students may choose from the range of uniform items available for their year level.

Junior Year 1-6: any combination of
- white or black socks
- grey polo shirt
- burgundy polar fleece
- plain black long pants - no jeans, jeggings or tights
- plain black shorts - no shorter than mid thigh
- black thermal may be worn under polo shirts in cooler months
- black shoes or sandals - they may have a small amount of markings
- No jandals, slippers or Ugg boots. Gumboots are not school uniform.
Senior Year 7-11: any combination of
- black or white socks
- burgundy polo shirt
- burgundy polar fleece
- any plain black pants- no jeans, jeggings or tights
- plain black shorts - no shorter than mid thigh
- black shoes or sandals - they may have a small amount of markings
- No jandals, slippers or Ugg boots.
- black thermal may be worn under polo shirts in cooler months
A uniform pass is available from the office at the beginning of the day if supported by a parental note and a genuine reason.
Students may be instructed to remove visible jewellery on the grounds of health and safety.
Students wearing jewellery for cultural purposes e.g. pounamu should do so in a discrete manner.
On occasions it will be necessary for shoes to be of a covered in type for health and safety reasons e.g. while working in the Food Tech or Hard Materials rooms.
Students are encouraged to have a change of clothing for PE and sports activities.
The school will supply sports uniforms for inter-school events.
We are a Sun Smart accredited school, and all students are expected to wear sunhats. Students up to Year 8 are supplied with their first sunhat, but if lost replacement hats may be purchased from school or brought from home.
Students will be permitted to wear thermals underneath their uniform during winter months. Thermals are to be black only.
For students up to and including Year 11 cosmetics and jewellery, other than a pair of plain studs or sleepers, will not be worn. Students may be instructed to remove visible jewellery on the grounds of health and safety. Students wearing jewellery for cultural purposes e.g. pounamu, should do so in a discrete manner.
No accessories are to be worn with the school uniform e.g. coloured belts.
Students' clothing is to be named.
The school will hold a supply of uniform clothing although parents/caregivers may access the uniform from wherever they wish.
